With every passing week baby Scarlett filled our hearts more and more. She had many visitors during her first three months: both grandparents, her aunties, uncles and cousins from Denver, Paris from Oregon and Amy and Emersyn from Okinawa. One of our favorite things to do with her was to cuddle and take naps, but once she started smiling our favorite thing became trying to get her to do it again. By three months she started to become very alert and awake.
It just keeps getting better! Scarlett became a little toe-sucking, giggling little rollie pollie. She loves silly music, smacking her food in her mouth, pulling her mommy's hair, and drinking water from a big girl cup. She generally sleeps for 11 hours straight (unless we brag, then she's guaranteed to wake-up that night). She is really close to sitting up on her own, and can't quite crawl yet, but she somehow manages to scoot backwards great distances. We'll rank that as better than crawling, you know... she is exceptionally advanced.
Scarlett Adeline finally arrived on April 19th, 2009, just 4 days before her due date. She weighed 8lbs 3 0z. and entered the world to two proud and exhausted parents. The labor and delivery could not have gone smoother, which was fortunate because the days ahead were full of sleep deprivatation. Scarlett was an apathetic, sleepy eater which made feeding time quite the circus act. The support of family was a saving grace.
We were over the moon to find out we were having a baby! We stayed very busy in the 9 months we awaited her arrival. There were many doctor appointments, ultrasounds, and pregnancy experiences. We watched as Annie's baby bump grew, kept busy working on her nursery, and sat for a maternity photo shoot. The anticipation was exciting!
7-9 months
Wow! In what seems like a whirlwind, Scarlett went from sitting to crawling, climbing furniture and standing while playing. It's still a shock to hear her shout for us in her crib and then find her peeking over the edge when we go to get her. Eating finger foods, and a wider variety of baby foods is how we pass the day. She is a good littler eater! Her favorites remain avocadoes and sweet potatoes. She loves to yell "da da da da" and "ma ma ma ma" and affectionately gives wide mouth slobbery kisses when you ask for them. So sweet! |
